A Big Weekend in the DC Area
March 6, 2008
Friends - I look forward to seeing many of you tomorrow (Friday 7 March) at the DC Christian Peace Witness for Iraq at noon.
Then tomorrow and Saturday will be our DC area "Everything Must Change" event. We have over 300 registered already, but if you'd like to come, there's still some room and you can register at the door. Check out the deepshift.org website for directions and other information.
Lots of good things cooking ... Hope to see you this weekend!

Music from the Road
February 21, 2008
Greetings Friends -
THIS SUNDAY: I am re-scheduled to appear on Faces of Faith on CNN at 7:45 am, EST, February 24. Many of you may have noticed I was bumped last weekend due to the sad story of the shootings at UNI in Illinois.
One of our key elements in the Everything Must Change tour is music. Musician/producer Tracy Howe and I wrote and recorded original music for the tour because we believe that what we sing forms us. If all of our songs say, "Jesus, hold me; Jesus, forgive me; Jesus, bless me," that does a great job of deepening our personal connection to Jesus on one level, but it can make us pretty self-centered. In the words of a friend of mine, we find ourselves congratulating God on what a great job God is doing at meeting our personal needs.

On tour…
February 19, 2008
Dear Friends,
What an exciting time to be alive! In our political world, there's talk of change, and in our religious communities, change is afoot as well. Of course, not all change is for the better, and change scares a lot of people. But the fact is, life is change, and as Paul said in Romans (8:28-29), we believe that God is at work for the good "in everything." In other words, God is an unseen change-agent, always working to foment good out of evil, better out of good, and the best out of better. Our great privilege and calling is to learn to harmonize with God's Spirit and join God in plotting goodness.
We've completed the first two stops on our eleven-city "Everything Must Change" tour. Each was wonderful - and each was unique. In Charlotte, we gathered in a funky, fun, creative space - and even though we were so crowded that we had to adjust some elements of our program, the close quarters were cozy and warm. In Boise, we had a spacious state-of-the-art environment, great sound, and gracious hospitality - which created a different kind of warmth and charm with plenty of room for our full program. In both cities people thanked us for encouragement, inspiration, and invitation to "deep shift."
